Sosyoekonomik ve teknolojik boyutta yaşanan gelişmeler, birçok sektörde olduğu gibi turizm sektöründe de önemli değişimlere neden olmuş, bu süreçte turizm tercihleri de değişmiştir. 2000’li yıllarda küresel perspektifte öne çıkan ekoturizm kavramı, turizm sektörü bileşenlerinin tutum ve beklentileri üzerinde büyük bir etki oluşturmuş ve sektöre sürdürülebilir tabanlı bir turizm yaklaşımını entegre etmiştir. Ekoturizm, doğal ve kültürel alan kullanımlarının koruma-kullanma dengesi gözetilerek yönetilmesi hedefiyle, alternatif turizm olanakları sunmaktadır. Sürdürülebilir faaliyetler, yerel ölçekte ekonomik kalkınma potansiyeli, dengeli sektörel büyüme vb. bu olanaklar arasında öncelikli olarak gösterilebilir. Türkiye, coğrafi konumunun etkisiyle doğal ve kültürel peyzaj değerleri yönünden önemli ekoturizm bölgelerine sahiptir. Bu nedenle, kırsal alanlarda yaşam kalitesinin yükselmesini hedefleyen ekoturizmi destekleyici politikalar, ülkemizin sürdürülebilir kırsal kalkınma hedefleriyle birlikte değerlendirilmelidir. Çalışmada, ekoturizm yönünden önemli bir potansiyele sahip Adana’nın Kozan ilçesi incelenmiştir. Bu kapsamda öncelikle, doğal ve kültürel değerlerin tespitine yönelik kapsamlı bir envanter çalışması yürütülmüştür. Elde edilen veriler doğrultusunda, SWOT ve TOWS analizleri ile çalışma alanının mevcut durumuna yönelik sürdürülebilir turizm yaklaşımıyla bir değerlendirme sunulmuştur.
Global developments in socioeconomic and technological dimensions have launched great changes in the tourism sector, as in many sectors. Tourism preferences have also changed accordingly. The concept of ecotourism, which has been known in the global perspective since 2000s, has had a great effect on the attitudes and expectations of the components of tourism sector. So, it is integrated as a sustainable-based tourism approach into the sector. Ecotourism offers alternative tourism opportunities with the aim of providing the use of natural and cultural areas by considering the protection-use balance. Sustainable activities, economic development potential at local scale, balanced sectoral growth may be shown as prior ones among these possibilities. Thanks to the geographical location of Turkey, there are important ecotourism regions in terms of natural and cultural landscape values. Therefore, policies supporting ecotourism aiming to increase the quality of life in rural areas should be evaluated together with the sustainable rural development goals of our country. The aim of the study to examine Adana-Kozan, which has an important potential in terms of ecotourism. Within the scope of the study, as a first, a comprehensive inventory study was carried out for the determination of natural and cultural values. In line with the data obtained, an evaluation of the current situation of the study area with a sustainable tourism approach was highlighted using SWOT and TOWS analyzes.
